COMPASS Welcomes New Board Members!

At the COMPASS Board of Directors meeting in late September, Sandra Best Bailly and Bill Steinkrauss were voted in as the newest members of the COMPASS Board. Sandra and Bill bring a wealth of relevant experience and a wide skillset that will benefit the Board and COMPASS more broadly as the organization continues to grow.

Sandra Best Bailly is an experienced program management and project leader in the healthcare field and higher education. She is a clinically trained social worker with experience working in the Department of Children and Families, Red Cross-Blood Services, Blue Cross Blue Shield Association Plans, among other organizations. Currently, Sandra is an Associate Director, Student Support and Alumni Networks at Simmons University in the School of Social Work. “I have always taken a systems approach to everything I do”, says Sandra, “and I am passionate about making linkages to nontraditional approaches to social work and healthcare.” When Sandra was connected to COMPASS by a current Board member, she was immediately drawn to the mission and the opportunity for her to leverage her experience to help COMPASS continue to grow. Sandra brings expertise in strategic planning, talent development, and board governance to her new role as a Board member at COMPASS. Sandra possesses a bachelor’s degree in Sociology from Tufts University, a master’s degree in Social Work from Simmons College, and a graduate certificate in Project Management from City University School of Management (Bellevue, WA).  She is also a fellow of UMASS Boston’s Center for Collaborative Leadership’s Emerging Leaders Program (ELP) and the Executive Leadership Council (ELC)’s Mid-Level Leader’s Strengthening the Pipeline Program.

Bill Steinkrauss brings a wealth of knowledge in the fields of accounting and finance to the COMPASS Board of Directors. Bill, a Certified Public Accountant, has focused his career in the biotechnology field, where he connects to the mission of each organization. He has worked in companies that focus on developing products in the areas of cancer and antibiotics in addition to volunteering for various youth mentoring organizations. Currently, Bill is the Chief Financial Officer and Treasurer for Curis, Inc. When he connected with a current COMPASS Board of Directors member earlier in 2020, Bill jumped at the opportunity, “I am excited to be associated with an organization [COMPASS] that is driven to deliver on its mission every day.” Bill brings expertise in financial forecasting and long-range planning, and a passion for the mission to his new role as a COMPASS Board member. Bill possesses a bachelor’s degree in Management and a master’s degree in Accounting, both from Boston College.

“We are thrilled to add Sandra and Bill as new members of the COMPASS Board,” says Jim Tierney, Chair of the COMPASS Board of Directors. “They bring perspectives, experience, and insight that will help our entire organization. They are also deeply committed to supporting the people we serve and our outstanding staff. We welcome their energy and dedication to our mission.”

Please welcome Sandra and Bill to the COMPASS family!
