COMPASS recognizes the comprehensive and critical services provided by ISP staff on behalf of their students at English High School.
The COMPASS Intensive Support Program at English High School offers high-risk
students and their families "wrap-around" integrated, highly specialized
educational and social services.
The program functions at three levels:
- It improves the capacity of the school to meet the needs of high-risk
students who typically face multiple problems and are often referred to
out-of-district placements;
- it reintegrates students formerly placed out of their homes and out of
public schools; and
- it enables students to complete high school, develop a solid base of
personal skills, and succeed as learners and, ultimately, as employees.
The program is based on the premise that supportive, constructive
relationships among students, their teachers and school staff members are the
foundation for positive student development.
